Reintroduced legislation would end piece-rate base pay, extend brand liability and support domestic garment manufacturing
WASHINGTON DC — US lawmakers have reintroduced the FABRIC Act, proposing federal protections against wage theft and unsafe conditions for garment workers.
The Fashioning Accountability and Building Real Institutional Change Act would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act to prohibit piece-rate pay as a worker’s base wage across the US garment industry.
