Environmental NGO says cancelled MMCF mill highlights brands’ need for resilient, circular man-made cellulosic fibre supply chains
VANCOUVER — Canopy has called on fashion brands and man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) producers to accelerate investment in recycled and non-wood feedstocks after a planned MMCF mill was cancelled amid market oversupply.
The intervention follows the reported cancellation of the proposed Kuura textile fibre mill in Kemi, Finland, which was intended to expand conventional MMCF capacity, by forest industry products company Metsä Group.
