New estimates by the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) say the sector contributes an estimated $675 billion to global GDP each year and supports 28 million jobs globally.
The report, titled The Industry that Moves the World, says the contribution is roughly 0.6% of world economic output, and the jobs represent one in every 125 roles on the planet.
