New US bill targets textile waste

Proposed Textile Waste Reduction Act would require federal action, data reporting and a national strategy to support textile circularity

WASHINGTON DC — US Congresswoman Chellie Pingree has introduced the Textile Waste Reduction Act, which would establish a federal framework for reducing textile waste and advancing circularity.

The bill would direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to lead coordinated action, develop a National Textile Circularity Strategy and complete an assessment of required policies, investment and implementation measures.
