Researchers report improved hibiscus colour fixation on viscose, offering a potential alternative to conventional metal-based dye fixatives
GIZA — Researchers at Egypt’s National Research Centre have used a fungal enzyme to fix hibiscus-derived colour onto textiles without adding conventional metal-salt mordants.
Laboratory tests showed stronger colour and better resistance to washing, rubbing, perspiration and light on viscose when researchers combined the natural dye with laccase.
