Civil groups seek stronger IFC safeguards

Campaigners call for tougher labour, climate and supply-chain protections as IFC and MIGA revise their sustainability framework

WASHINGTON DC – A coalition of 116 civil society organisations has urged the World Bank Group to strengthen labour, climate, biodiversity and transparency safeguards in the revised IFC and MIGA Sustainability Framework.

The groups want the framework’s Performance Standard 2 on labour to extend protections to contracted and supply-chain workers, while introducing a standalone occupational safety and health standard.
