Japanese biotech seeks to expand into textiles with a regenerated cellulose fibre containing eggshell membranes
MUNICH – Japanese research and development company Pharmafoods has introduced a regenerated cellulose fibre containing hydrolysed eggshell membrane recovered from food-industry waste.
The branded material, Ovoveil, is made by collecting eggshells and membranes that would otherwise be discarded, separating the membrane and processing it through hydrolysis before blending it with cellulose.
