New Swedish investigation intensifies scrutiny of retailer’s forest sourcing, following earlier concerns covering wood-based materials for home textiles
STOCKHOLM — Greenpeace has challenged IKEA’s forest-sourcing safeguards after linking logging in Swedish continuity forests to its suppliers, extending earlier scrutiny covering wood-based textile materials.
The investigation tracked logs from eight logged areas to two sawmills connected to IKEA’s furniture supply chain. The findings concern timber for furniture rather than textile fibres, but follow Greenpeace’s earlier criticism of sourcing policies covering both product categories.
