Due diligence fails ‘missing millions’ of casual workers

OECD panel hears millions of home workers are being denied adequate pay and conditions but remain invisible to fashion brands

PARIS - Due diligence in the garment and footwear sector is still failing the “missing millions” of informal workers, panellists warned at this week’s OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector.

Chairing a session entitled 'The missing millions: Due diligence in informal settings', OECD policy analyst Andrea Schill said that “in some countries, up to 90% of the workforce in our sector is working informally”.
