Researchers find iron removed a test dye faster than aluminium under optimised conditions, but results differed in other comparisons

NGAOUNDÉRÉ — Researchers in Cameroon found that iron removed a test dye from water faster than aluminium. In laboratory trials, iron removed more than 97% of the dye in 26 minutes, while aluminium removed slightly less in 35 minutes.

The study, published in *Discover Chemistry*, compared the metals in electrocoagulation, a treatment that passes an electric current through water to form particles that capture dissolved dye.
