BARCELONA – One of three breakout sessions held simultaneously at this year’s successful Planet Textiles conference, ‘A New Blueprint for Denim’ proved to be an eye-opening and frank discussion about the future of denim production, sales and marketing, highlighting that despite the sustainability progress made to date, much more attention and refinement is needed to catalyse industry-wide improvements.

Led by denim expert and CEO of Olah Inc., Andrew Olah, the discussion – held in tandem with the Accelerating Higg and Zero Tolerance on Pollution sessions – brought together Sanjeev Bahl, CEO of Saitex; Alberto Candiani, CEO of Candiani Denim; Miguel Sanchez, founder of Gavilan AD; and Mike Kininmonth, business development manager of Lenzing Fibers.

In a refreshing take on the topic from the company figureheads, each strayed away from what can at times be considered greenwash to offer unique perspectives on how they judge the state of play and provided suggestions on where in the industry the more incremental gains can be made.
