SAN FRANCISCO — Levi Strauss & Co. has announced the signing of a US$2.3 million co-operation agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in order to help the company reach its targets on reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and water use in its supply chain.

Levi’s describes the deal as a “critical element” of its efforts to achieve its science-based climate targets.

Under the agreement, which will be conducted in accordance with the IFC’s Partnership for Cleaner Textiles approach, 42 designated Levi Strauss suppliers and mills will receive support from the IFC to reduce their environmental impact.
