LONDON – Global sustainability initiative Fashion For Good (FFG) has partnered with UK recycler First Mile to streamline plastic polybag recycling efforts in London, as it expands the outlook of its Plastics Packaging Project.

In December 2019, FFG teamed up with a raft of apparel firms, including Adidas, C&A, Kering, Otto Group and PVH Corp to kickstart the project which will look to create a circular economy around the estimated 180 million polybags used per year in the fashion industry.

Having already launched the Circular Polybag Pilot with Accelerator Programme graduate Cadel Deinking – which deinks and removes adhesives from post-consumer polybag waste – the new Polybag Collection Scheme Pilot will establish collection services at the London stores of Kering, PVH and Stella McCartney to improve recycling rates.
