NEW DELHI - The Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA), which campaigns to improve conditions in the garment industry, is calling for further action from brands and governments to protect garment factories and their workers from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The call comes in the third issue of its 'Emperor Has No Clothes' report which focuses on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Cambodia, India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

It highlights the challenges that suppliers, in particular MSMEs, are facing due to COVID-19 lockdown measures and reduced business activities, and how these translate into increased risk and burden of liability for garment workers.
