PHNOM PENH – A workers’ rights campaigner and politician with Cambodia’s minor Khmer Win Party has been arrested after speaking out about the recent imprisonment of Rong Chhun.
Chhun, of the former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), was arrested at his home less than a month ago over comments he made on the radio about Vietnam’s encroachment on the country’s borders.
Cambodia’s Justice Ministry warned last week that activists which defy a ban on holding protests to demand the release of Chhun could face a similar fate. 12 arrests have thus far been made.
