FALLS CHURCH – The mission-statement of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s global Plastics Pact has been significantly strengthened with the launch of a new U.S. Plastics Pact in the States.

More than 60 ‘activators’ committed to the cause will now strive to address the use of plastics in their operations against time-bound targets, with brands and manufacturers including Target, Walmart and Kimberly-Clark tasked with ensuring all plastic packaging is 100 per cent reusable and recycle by 2025.

“Together, through the U.S. Plastics Pact, we will ignite systems change to accelerate progress toward a circular economy,” said Sarah Dearman, VP of Circular Ventures for The Recycling Partnership, which will spearhead work in the US alongside WWF. “The results from the U.S. Plastics Pact’s efforts to advance packaging, improve recycling, and reduce plastic waste will benefit the entire system and all materials.”
