BRUSSELS - Eleven NGOs, including the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC), have published a joint statement on proposed EU legislation requiring European businesses to carry out due diligence on human rights and environmental impact in every country in their supply chains.

The European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, announced in April that the EU was planning to make companies legally responsible for human rights and environmental issues in their value chains by 2021 as part of the European Green Deal.

The NGOs, which also include Action Aid, Amnesty International, Anti-Slavery International, CIDSE, European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights, European Coalition for Corporate Justice, FIDH, Friends of the Earth Europe, Global Witness and Oxfam, have now revealed what they want to see in the legislation.
