VANCOUVER – Environmental NGO Canopy has joined the United Nations’ Fashion Charter (UNFCCC) as a supporting organisation, and says it will work alongside the likes of Nike, Stella McCartney, Burberry, Chanel, Inditex as it vies to make a case for low-carbon raw material alternatives within the industry.

Canopy’s founder and executive director Nicole Rycroft insists this year is one for bold leadership, string outcomes and audacious creativity. “Over the coming months we will work alongside other members on an UNFCCC report that scans low-carbon raw material options for fashion, with an eye to the fact that forests are identified as one-third of the climate solution, if intact forests are conserved and priority degraded high-carbon landscapes restored,” she said.
