PHNOM PENH – The government in Cambodia has extended support measures for those in the garment, tourism and aviation industries until the end of the year, as it looks to uphold some form of infrastructure for these key sectors amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement from authorities recognises how hard families, particularly those already on the poverty line, have been hit by the ramifications of the virus and wants to provide respite in these times of uncertainty.

In particular, ensuring the country’s garment manufacturing industry remains active and retains its workforce post-pandemic will be of utmost importance. This industry exports clothing upwards of US$5 billion in value.
