LONDON - The UK's competition watchdog is to investigate greenwashing in sectors where consumer are most concerned about the accuracy of company's environmental claims, including fashion.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is concerned that increasing consumer demand for environmentally-friendly products is encouraging some businesses to make misleading claims.
Examples include exaggerating the environmental benefit of a product or service, using packaging or logos to falsely imply a product is eco-friendly, and using jargon to confuse shoppers.
