MAHWAH - The Ascena Retail Group, which owns brands including Ann Taylor, LOFT and Lou & Grey, is to stop selling products made with alpaca wool over animal rights concerns.

The New Jersey-based company says it will "fully eliminate" the fabric from its product lines at all stores after the winter 2020/21 season is over.

It comes after the PETA animal rights organisation urged major retailers to ditch alpaca wool following an undercover investigation at Mallkini, the world’s largest privately-owned alpaca farm, in Peru.
