DHAKA - Orders to garment suppliers in Bangladesh for the next four months are 30 per cent lower than last year as second wave COVID-19 lockdowns begin to bite, according to a new survey.

The Bangladesh Garment and Manufacters Association (BGMEA) carried out the survey of 50 of the country's 350 major garment manufacturers which found that orders for the four months from December to March were significantly down on last year.

BGMEA president Rubana Huq told Ecotextile News: "The second wave is hitting us in multiple ways. Many brands are deferring payments, putting orders on hold, and placing less orders."
