NOTTINGHAM - Nine out of 10 British outdoor enthusiasts say they consider the sustainability of products or companies before making a purchase, according to a new survey.

The poll of 2,604 customers of UK outdoor wear specialist Alpkit found that sustainability ranked higher than price and was second only to the quality of materials and construction when it came to buying outdoors kit.

Some 90 per cent of respondents were either 'very concerned' or 'extremely concerned' about the environmental impact of the clothing industry, with 88 per cent saying the industry needed to act now to limit harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
