COLOMBO - Workers' rights campaigners are calling on brands, factory owners and government to do more to help garment workers in Sri Lanka cope with the severe effects of the third COVID-19 wave.
The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) and local worker rights organisations say the current wave of infections is having devastating consequences for the country's garment workers.
Many factories remained open with workers having to work in crowded conditions, they said, adding that workers also struggled to distance in the boarding houses where many lived.
