LENZING - Austrian fibre manufacturer Lenzing has linked up with textile company Utexbel to provide 80,000 shirts for Belgian prison officers made with the former's Tencel-branded lyocell featuring 'sustainable' Refibra technology.

The uniforms, for the Belgian Federal Public Service for Justice, represent the first time that Lenzing's Refibra technology - which includes recycled cotton waste - has been used in the public sector.

Refibra technology involves upcycling cotton scraps from garment production and combining them with wood pulp to produce new virgin quality Tencel-branded cellulosic fibres.
