GENEVA – Sustainability initiative Better Cotton has published its 2021 annual report in which it reflects on the successes and challenges of the past 12 months.
Notably, the organisation’s brand and retail partners sourced a record 2.5 million tonnes of the ‘sustainable’ material last year, marking a 47 per cent increase on 2020 volumes, which was itself a previous record.
Alan McClay, Better Cotton’s CEO, commented: “We can all agree that 2021 was a challenging year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and growing climate and biodiversity challenges. However, we remained steadfast in our commitment and purpose to promote more sustainable cotton production.”
