COLOMBO - WASHINGTON DC - The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) - which represents more than 1,000 brands - is pledging to support the Sri Lankan garment industry during the country's economic crisis.

AAFA president and CEO Steve Lamar has written to the country's leading trade body for the sector, the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), applauding its "relentless efforts" to keep workers employed, safe and healthy.

"Many of our members source from Sri Lanka, with partnerships going back decades," he wrote. "Your continued work has kept the industry moving forward, preserved jobs in Sri Lanka’s garment industry, and supported the Sri Lankan economy through these extremely difficult times.
