NEWPORT – Authorities in the UK’s Isle of Wight have launched a textile recycling campaign in a bid to encourage residents to adopt more ‘sustainable’ disposal habits.
In collaboration with waste management firm Amey, the island’s council has launched the initiative with a focus on the ‘three Rs’ – reduce, reuse and recycle – and has said it will raise awareness of circular practices amongst communities.
Natasha Dix, the council’s strategic manager for the environment, said: “Islanders are already great at recycling but we can all do that little bit more. Although recycling is quick and easy with kerbside collection, there are lots of things you can do before that.”
