POMMERLOCH – In a bid to track the origin of nylon and polyester textiles, Avient has launched a new tracer technology based on ‘taggants’, which are special chemical markers added to textile fibres during the spin-dyeing process.
The Luxembourg-based company says these taggants have a unique identity for customers and their product lines after which end-use fabrics can be tested for their presence – to prove their point of origin.
This enables producers and brand owners within the textile industry to determine the source of the fibre more easily, and to verify information provided on clothing labels to consumers.
