SAN FRANCISCO - Environmental NGO Stand.Earth has updated its ‘Fossil Free Fashion Scorecard’ which assesses brands' efforts on climate change and concludes that most are still falling short.
The initiative assessed 43 apparel and footwear companies on the steps they were taking to eliminate fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing, materials and shipping.
The 2023 Fossil-Free Fashion Scorecard, an update of a similar exercise carried out in August 2021, says that manufacturing processes still disproportionately rely on coal and other fossil fuels.
