GAZIANTEP - Textile exports from Turkey have fallen by more than 20 per cent following a series of devastating earthquakes in the region at the heart of the country's operations in the sector.

Around a third of Turkey's textile production is based in the 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes where 1,616 garment and 1,290 textile companies are said to operate.

New figures from the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB) reveals that textile exports in February decreased by 21.2% year-on-year, the equivalent of US$891 million.
