WASHINGTON – A coalition of fashion brands, online clothing retailers, resellers and e-commerce platforms has written to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) urging it to take decisive action on waste by amending existing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws to include textiles, or by the enactment of separate textile-specific EPR laws aligned with the waste hierarchy.

In a letter the EPA, the American Circular Textiles Group (ACT) – which includes members such as H&M, Rent The Runway, The RealReal, Reformation and Debrand – called for federal Congressional committees to work together to pass bipartisan legislation that provides a unified roadmap for state and local textile reuse and recycling solutions.
