LONDON - The UK government has proposed new legislation to ban sales of products that perpetuate biodiversity loss and are the result of illegal deforestation.

Although textiles are notable by their absence from the list, which includes leather as well as a number of food products, the legislation is expected to protect the habitats of some of the world’s most precious and endangered species, including tigers and leopards.
