KINGSPORT – Speciality materials manufacturer Eastman has been awarded up to $375 million in funding to build a low carbon recycling plant to transform mixed plastic waste into virgin-quality materials for textiles and packaging.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) selected Eastman to receive the investment to build the company's second molecular recycling project at its site in Longview, Texas, with additional support from the state of Texas.
