Unlocking investment to scale textile decarbonisation

After we recently published details of a newly proposed model that links textile manufacturing improvements to next generation fibre adoption at cost parity – while at the same time unlocking investment opportunities – we received readership queries that challenged the overall concept.

In this follow up article, we asked Shivam Gusain, the brains behind the proposed Double Dividend Protocol, to tackle some of these comments head on in a simple question and answer format.

“The Double Dividend Protocol was never meant to be a thought experiment. It was designed as a financial and operational mechanism to fix a structural flaw in how the fashion and textile industry approaches decarbonisation and material innovation,” Gusain tells Ecotextile News.

Pointing out that his model argues how decarbonisation should not compete with material substitution – but enable it.
