A recent position paper on textile-to-textile recycling risks being another round of overpromise and underdeliver given the scaling assumptions heavily depend on regulatory support and public money – without evidence and transparency.

While the ambitions are laudable, the recommendations overlook technical complexities.

The T2T Alliance’s second position paper arrives at a moment when textile waste management systems are strained, infrastructure gaps are widening, and the European legislative agenda is already juggling multiple demands under the Circular Textiles Strategy.

The newly published paper proposes to respond to these challenges through a set of core asks, including reclassifying textile waste to streamline feedstock access, expanding EPR funding to include recyclers, and creating a new Circular Economy Fund to provide a decade of financial support.
