Reports paint a bleak picture of coal‑heavy supply chains – yet some brands and suppliers are quietly showing that decarbonisation is still within reach

Cascale’s latest Decarbonisation Progress Report is sobering, to put it politely. According to the report, 38% of total energy used by some 10,000 factories reporting to Cascale's Facility Environmental Module originates from coal and only 2% from renewable energy.

In addition, less than 20% of all energy used in Tier 1 (19%) and Tier 2 (14%) factories is consumed in the form of purchased electricity. Gas dominates Tier 1 (43%), while coal (40%) and gas (29%) together make up over two thirds of Tier 2 energy consumption.
