Africa’s Cotton, Textiles and Apparel (CTA) pitches the continent as a resilient, compliant sourcing hub for brands looking to de‑risk from Asia and tighten up on sustainability
ABUJA – The Nigeria‑based initiative, set up by the International Trade and Research Centre (ITRC), is working with policymakers and business to align investment, industrialisation and trade rules so more of the value from sustainable and organic cotton stays in Africa rather than being exported as raw fibre.
In an interview with Ecotextile News, founder Sand Mba‑Kalu says the centre wants to “bridge gaps in policy and drive industrialisation” by using research, local market knowledge and policy briefs to shape decisions.
