California textile EPR faces court test

SACRAMENTO — California’s landmark textile extended producer responsibility law is headed to court after the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) moved to challenge state regulator CalRecycle’s choice of Landbell USA as its producer responsibility organisation (PRO).

AAFA has filed a petition in Sacramento County Superior Court arguing that CalRecycle’s approval of Landbell USA under the Responsible Textile Recovery Act, known as SB 707, fails to uphold the law’s own eligibility rules for producer responsibility organisations.
