China warns of retaliatory action over penalties targeting high-volume clothing sold through platforms including Shein and Temu

BEIJING – China has formally demanded that France repeal its new anti-ultra-fast-fashion law, which entered into force on Tuesday.

It described the measure as a “discriminatory trade restriction” that violates World Trade Organization (WTO) principles and has threatened retaliatory action if Paris proceeds.
