MIT study develops new polyethylene yarn that could offer a route to fully recyclable stretchy clothing

CAMBRIDGE – A research team has developed a recyclable polyethylene yarn that claims to mimic the stretch and strength of difficult-to-recycle spandex fibres.

The new yarn has a similar feel to traditional sewing thread and can be woven into stretchy, lightweight clothing.
