SHEFFIELD — A report published by academics at the University of Sheffield suggests that while many big name fashion brands are committing to headline-grabbing wage pledges they are currently failing to meet these targets.
It is alleged that many brands making such promises may be using the “social capital of ‘living wage’ language and commitments to improve reputational standing.”
The study examines 22 fashion firms’ approaches to wage increase commitments, including companies such as PVH, H&M, Inditex and Primark.
