LOUISIANA – Global chemicals company BASF hopes to establish an industry benchmark for traceability within cotton supply chains, with the introduction of brand-oriented tours.

Only recently, the German firm welcomed along the likes of Levi Strauss & Co., Banana Republic, JC Penney and Kontoor Brands for a walkthrough both of its ginning, spinning and weaving operations in Louisiana; this, to convey the credentials of the production steps its sustainable e3 cotton is subjected to.

“BASF’s commitment to sustainability through the e3 programme should serve as a model for the entire industry,” said Andrew Olah, founder of the Kingpins event, which runs this week.
