LONDON – British fashion brand Burberry's autumn/winter 2020 runway show, held yesterday, was carbon neutral, with efforts to this end pre-empting the launch of a new Regeneration Fund that will undertake carbon insetting projects within its supply chain.
The fashion business will first work closely with its Australian wool growers at farm level to improve carbon capture in soils, improve watershed and soil health, reduce dryland salinity and promote biodiverse habitats.
Any emissions not mitigated at its runway show – ensured by changing to a certified sustainable venue and prioritising electric vehicles – is to be accounted for by further insetting work in Australia that will reduce the risk of uncontrolled late dry season wild fires.
