GLOBAL – Leading brands and retailers including Primark, H&M, Inditex, C&A, Adidas and VF Corp have endorsed a new cross-industry plan to provide urgent financial relief to vulnerable garment factories and workers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bestseller, PVH, M&S, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, Tchibo and Zalando are also backing the initiative which is fronted by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), International Organisation of Employees (IOE), International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and the IndustriALL Global Union, along with NGOs and finance institutions.

Agreement on the wording of the plan comes after fraught discussions involving some of the stakeholders who previously found it difficult to agree on a final text for a statement so that the initiative could move forward, according to Ecotextile News sources.
