GLOBAL - Industry stakeholders have been reacting to the news that leading brands and retailers have endorsed a new cross-industry plan to provide urgent support to vulnerable garment factories and workers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Primark, H&M, Inditex, C&A, Adidas, VF Corp, Bestseller, PVH, M&S, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, Tchibo and Zalando are backing the initiative by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), International Organisation of Employees (IOE), International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and the IndustriALL global union.

Katharine Stewart, ethical trade and environmental sustainability director at Primark, which was recently singled out for reported cancelling or delaying the most orders from Bangladesh, said: "The importance of this initiative led by the ILO cannot be overstated.
