DHAKA - Garment manufacturers in Bangladesh have gone back to the country's government in a bid to secure more financial aid to help the industry withstand the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The industry, which is responsible for more than 80 per cent of Bangladesh's exports, had been bouncing back from the huge impact of the global lockdowns which followed the onset of the crisis.

But the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) says second wave lockdowns are now threatening factory owners' ability to survive the pandemic.
