WASHINGTON – A new pilot project led by workers’ rights NGO Verité that will test the potential for tracing technologies to uncover cases of exploitation within fashion supply chains has been backed with a US$4 million grant.

The Supply Chain Tracing and Engagement Methodologies initiative (STREAMS) will lean on the technology of Sourcemap, a company which has previously partnered with the likes of VF Corp to track the shipment of goods.

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), environmental genomics specialist Phylagen, RCS Global and the Responsible Sourcing Network will also support the project.
