LONDON - The Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region has attacked the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) which it accuses of deleting all public statements and references to its decision to exit the Xinjiang region of China over forced labour concerns.
The BCI announced last October that it was withdrawing from the Xinjiang region - which supplies a fifth of the world's cotton - over concerns about the use of forced labour by incarcerated Uyghur Muslims.
However, that statement has been removed from its website while information about an independent task force which the BCI established to review its policies on forced labour has been edited to remove nearly all references to Xinjiang or China.
