SOUTH ASIA - A comprehensive new report on the experiences of supply chain workers producing garments for major brands during the COVID-19 pandemic says the overwhelming majority suffered from 'wage theft'.
Entitled 'Money Heist - COVID-19 Wage Theft in Global Garment Supply Chains, the report was produced by the Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) in collaboration with 23 trade unions and labour organisations across six countries.
In total, it surveyed 2,185 workers who made garments for 15 major brands across 189 factories in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Cambodia and Bangladesh.
